Have contacted Etihad Guest HQ and was told to contact the local Etihad sales office, Netherlands in my case. Explained that I wanted a status match (im gold KLM and gold Qatar).
Got a reply that they are happy to have me as a customer and they'd apply for my status match. Didn't hear anything for about 1-2 weeks and got this email today:
Thank you for your continued loyalty to Etihad Airways, The World’s Leading Airline.
We are delighted to say that you have earned sufficient Tier Miles / Tier Segments to be upgraded to Etihad Guest Gold.
