. Sent proof of Velocity Gold, including (print of my Krisflyer record for the past year (which included numerous Singapore Airlines flights). Krisflyer replied 5 days later saying: "We have reviewed your request and we are unable to offer you a KrisFlyer membership tier that matches your status with another Frequent Flyer Programme."
Their email then set out the standard criteria for qualifying for Krisflyer status. But why bother when Velocity gives me the benefits of Gold on Singapore Airlines flights?
In any event, Velocity offers better customer service by phone than Krisflyer; Velocity is better/easier to use for Australian residents; and Velocity's points don't expire after 3 years like Krisflyer's. The only advantage of Krisflyer over Velocity is that it's Star Alliance. If only Velocity would join Star Alliance so its members stopped being treated like second class citizens and getting shut out of lounges when travelling on partner airlines -- that was the only reason I was thinking of changing -- then its members wouldn't be thinking of changing to a Star Alliance program.
