I obtained my Singapore Gold via the Shangri-La/Singapore fast track to Silver, plus 3 flights to Gold. I then requested via Emirates Customer Services to match. I did have a return journey in first booked with Emirates, and they asked me questions about the future revenue I might send their way before granting the status.
