Sent my Gold card details to Turkish Airlines Miles and Smiles application department. They created me an account and gave me 4 months free Elite Membership. Extension to a full year if I took 1 international flight with them, which I've now done. All worked fine. Also bonus of reduced points needed to retain Elite if I continue to fly with Turkish throughout the year. Well worth it for Star Alliance Gold membership.
