As we all know, Marriott Rewards and SPG program merger has taken place on August 18, 2018. However currently they, at least their promotions, are still running separately for some time to some extent. SPG has just reopened the brand new Status Challenge promotion details of which can be retrieved from SPG customer support directly and from SPG agents only (You may encounter problems and confusion if trying to reach Marriott Rewards representatives for this promotion published from SPG side). In general you would have 90 days to: Acquire 8 qualifying nights and get upgraded to Gold Acquire 16 qualifying nights and get upgraded to Platinum (not Platinum Premier!) - Members can only call customer center to enroll - Members can enroll only once between 2018/Sep/1 and 2021/Dec/31 - Free nights in any form incl. award nights redeemed by points all count towards qualifying nights - All 29 brands in Marriott's portfolio except BVLGARI count (not sure about Marriott Executive Apartment) - No need to have any current status to enroll in either Gold or Platinum challenge - The time period of challenge is NOT retrospective
